Glass bricks have an unmistakable visual identity: geometric modules and diffuse transparency, which changes as light passes through the surface. At CASACOR 2026, the material's presence in various projects signals a comeback that goes beyond nostalgia. In proposals of different languages, the blocks are no longer associated with a single era or application and become part of interior design in distinct ways.

What draws attention is not only the material's return, but the variety of roles it takes on in the show's projects. The scale of the intervention, the finish of the blocks and the combination with other materials alter its presence in the project – from the continuous plane to the details! The result expands the possibilities for using an element associated with Brazilian modernism, whose expression depends on the architectural choices surrounding it.
One of the main advantages of glass bricks is their ability to favor the entry of natural light in projects that could become darker with a conventional wall. Depending on the model, the transparency and texture of the material allow light to pass through in a diffuse manner, preserving part of the visual privacy. The projects at CASACOR 2026 show that this characteristic is especially interesting in compact layouts, hallways and interior spaces that receive little direct lighting.

Its versatility also deserves mention. The blocks can work as dividers between integrated projects, delimit areas of specific use or compose walls with strong visual presence. Unlike an opaque surface, the construction maintains a luminous connection between spaces, even when it establishes a physical separation.

Moisture resistance is another positive point, especially in wet areas, provided the installation is adequate. In these cases, planning must consider the setting system, the sealing and the structural requirements of each application.
In the kitchen, glass bricks can separate the food preparation area from the dining or living room without compromising visual integration. They also allow the creation of surfaces that receive natural light, contributing to a brighter and more dynamic atmosphere. A creative example is the countertop at Casa Âmago Deca, designed by Laline Mendes at CASACOR Piauí 2026.

In living rooms and social spaces, the material works as a transition element between different sectors of the layout. A partition can define the entryway, organize integrated projects, or create an interesting backdrop for furniture and design objects. The combination with wood, natural stones, metals and concrete, as done by Rafael Ramos in the Loft Pilotis at CASACOR Rio 2026, expands the composition possibilities.

In bathrooms, moisture resistance favors their use on walls and partitions, including to separate shower areas. In bedrooms, the blocks can delimit a closet, separate the sleeping area from a workspace, or form a decorative wall that takes advantage of light without fully exposing the interior.

Hallways, powder rooms, and circulation areas also benefit from this resource, especially when the intention is to bring luminosity to more enclosed points of the floor plan. Whether in small interventions, such as Universo Particular, by Bruna Marcon at CASACOR Rio Grande do Sul 2026, or on larger-scale surfaces, glass bricks demonstrate that functionality and visual identity can go hand in hand, renewing the relationship between light, materiality and architecture.
