On the edge of
Dovrefjell National Park , close to the
Snøhetta Mountains that give life to an abundant nature, lies the beautiful
Pavilion of the Norwegian Wild Reindeer Centre . To appreciate it, you need to follow a 1.5 km path at 1,200 m above sea level that offers views of spectacular peaks and mountains. The
90 m² pavilion is open to the public and serves as a venue for various
educational programs run by the Norwegian Wild Reindeer Foundation.
The place where it was located has a mystical atmosphere beyond its natural beauty. With a strong cultural presence, the space is marked by
legends, poems, music, myths , etc. And it was this atypical characteristic that inspired the creation of the project.
The durability of the materials was a key consideration for the
Snøhetta architects . They needed to be very selective in choosing
raw materials that were well-finished but also had
a long service life considering the local climate. The rectangular structure was made of
steel and other more natural materials were incorporated to bring local traditions to the fore. Despite its simple shape, advanced technologies were used in both the design and the manufacturing process.
The pavilion uses
3D modeling and edge banding . The wood gives a more natural and cozy look to the project, which invested in a shared and safe space to enjoy the outdoors. Next, be enchanted by seeing all the photos of the Pavilion project in full.
