CASACOR RJ 2017: Space optimization with multifunctional benches

Espaço Tempo.po - Luiza Bottino and Valeska Ulm. The 70 m² space invites visitors to pause and reflect. To achieve this, the duo created an extensive bench built next to the glass wall that overlooks Guanabara Bay. The bench is made of concrete and wood and in addition to being made for sitting, it houses vases.

Writer's Studio - Caroline Taveira, Mariana Barbosa and Barbara Schwartz. A changing space, which can vary according to the mood of its inhabitant. The project has an integrated bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom, in order to prioritize social interaction with friends, among other compositions. In this way of using space, the professionals have a wooden bench, along the window, which houses lamps and potted plants, as well as being an invitation to contemplate the view.

Cabinet of Curiosities - Patricia Fendt. With just 56 m², the lounge created for collectors in the areas of biology and human achievements, brings several solutions to optimize space and one of them was the application of a multifunctional bench, covered with white painted wood and tile, which houses books, cacti and even a lunette where visitors can enjoy the view and explore the city.

Ap. Y - Studio MH Arquitetura | Monique Pampolha and Hannah Cabral. Unlike other projects, in this space, the multifunctional bench is inserted in the middle of the space, delimiting different areas of the apartment. In addition, it houses a garden, artwork and a magazine rack next to the sofa. The same material that covers it goes up to one of the walls behind the sofa.

This year, CASACOR Rio de Janeiro will be held in an innovative development with a beautiful view of Guanabara Bay, the AQWA Corporate . The building was designed by Foster+Partners, by award-winning architect Norman Foster, and built by Tishman Speyer. Among the 42 spaces that make up the Rio de Janeiro exhibition, many of them bring diverse ideas for making the most of and optimizing the small space available. One of the solutions and ideas employed in the small spaces of CASACOR Rio de Janeiro was the use of multifunctional benches. Taking advantage of the original architecture of the project, some spaces created benches that extend the entire length of the building's windows and take on several functions, serving as seating, supporting objects and decorative items.
