The Loft (U) is a space designed with an ideal in mind: not to be defined by gender standards. Professionals Rodrigo Béze, Carlos Carvalho and Caio Carvalho, from Studio ro+ca, wanted to create a loft at CASACOR Rio de Janeiro 2017 to a couple, whether it is made up of a man and a woman, two men or two women. The name, Loft (U) comes from the English word “ undefined ”, a sexless environment, free from labels.
The built atmosphere is industrial: the building structures were left exposed, the partitions are made of iron and fluted glass and the floor oscillates between parts of cement and parts of wood.
The bathroom is positioned inside a black cube and the kitchen was made from a new material on the market, phoenix, which is resistant to friction and allows for the repair of scratches caused by heat.
