Located in one of the leafiest spots in São Paulo, at Praça Pereira Coutinho, this apartment of 300 m² was renovated by the firm Deborah Roig Arquitetos Associados (from the CASACOR São Paulo lineup) to become the new home of a couple — he an economist, she a lawyer — and their three children, aged between 9 and 14. Longtime neighbors in the area, the family chose to remain in the region for its lifestyle and abundant services.

The previous relationship of trust with the architect led to Deborah Roig being consulted even before the property's purchase. The original floor plan, with four suites, already met the family's needs, which allowed resources to be focused on interior design and space optimization, without the need for major structural interventions or demolition. The only replacement of finishes and fixtures took place in the powder room.

In the social core, the integration between the living room and the dining room is articulated by a sculptural shelf. The element plays multiple roles: it organizes circulation from the entrance hall, brings privacy to the living area, conceals the door to the kitchen, and displays books and the residents' sentimental mementos. On the balcony, the sectorized layout brings together a gourmet area, coffee corner, tasting lounge, garden, and playroom.

The color palette adopts white as a neutral base, warmed by the original wooden floorboards kept in place and by the custom millwork in natural American oak veneer. Touches of green in the furniture and objects bring the freshness of the square indoors.

The furniture selection mixes sentimental pieces with a new collection scaled to the current square footage. Highlights include the Mia chairs by Jader Almeida; the Lounge Chair by Ray and Charles Eames; coffee tables by Estúdio Orth; and an organically shaped dining table, exclusively designed by the firm. In the dining room, a canvas by artist Mai-Britt Wolthers, found at SP-Arte, takes center stage.

Completed in six months, the project overcame the challenge of transforming the property's atmosphere without altering lighting points or masonry, using solutions such as floor lamps, a targeted wall sconce next to the wine cellar, and smart cabinetry in the entrance hall.
