Playground shelving unit for cats is the highlight of this 219 sqm apartment

In this 219 m² apartment located in Asa Norte, Brasília, architects Carla Monza and Isabella Souza, at the helm of the Orla Arquitetura studio (and part of the CASACOR Brasília lineup), developed an interior design project that translates a light and functional way of living. Designed for a couple without children and their two cats, the property, recently delivered by the developer, had its original four-suite floor plan fully preserved, concentrating all interventions in the social and living areas.

The focal point of the social area is the custom-designed shelving unit. More than acting as a light and decorative divider for the living room, the piece features niches, openings and different heights that function as a vertical playground for the felines. The concept allows the animals to climb, move around and rest naturally in the living space, incorporating their habits into the home's routine.

The project's composition is marked by a neutral palette and by the balance between cool and warm textures. The concrete-effect paint, applied on the ceiling and one of the living room walls, dialogues with the lighting tracks and the black metallic structures with an industrial appeal.

To warm up the projects and ensure coziness, wooden joinery and a strong presence of natural light come into play, guaranteed by the wide openings that connect the space with the surrounding vegetation.

In the choice of furniture, the project highlights pieces with a striking design from Brazilian and contemporary design, such as the sofa by the Prototype brand and two armchairs created by Sergio Rodrigues, strategically positioned in front of the windows. Vinyl flooring covers the entire social area, meeting the couple's demand for a highly resistant and easy-to-maintain surface.

The residents' routine guided the customization of each room. The kitchen features a wide countertop and a generous work area, ideal for the daily preparation routine of one of the owners, who is a pastry chef.

In the private areas, the master suite takes on a more serene character, combining Scandinavian references with original illustrations created by the other resident, who is a graphic designer. The home office features custom cabinetry that optimizes the space and integrates bookshelves, a workstation, and cabinets, composing a practical apartment with a striking personality.
