More than a social project, the new
Refettorio Paris is the ideal combination of culture, solidarity, art and gastronomy. Located in the crypt of the Madeleine church, a historic symbol in the heart of Paris, the restaurant from Massimo Botura's NGO,
Food for Soul , was created to serve those most in need by serving meals created by renowned
chefs at an affordable price: starter + main course + dessert for nine euros.
100 meals are served every night, from Monday to Friday, where the service is provided by volunteers and volunteers, normally residents of the neighborhood. The raw materials are supplied by Carrefour, Banque Alimentaire and Phenix – a startup that acts as an intermediary between supermarkets and charitable associations. Products and ingredients from AccorHotels group restaurants will also be recovered, in order to avoid waste and encourage the reuse of food. In addition to the charitable and aesthetic concerns of the project, Botura wanted, above all, to create a cultural hub, combining
cuisine, art and design. In this scenario, events, workshops and training programs will take place for inclusion in the job market, in order to stimulate and involve citizens in an issue that Bottura has been fighting for years, which is against food waste and social isolation. All of Botura's work began with the Reffetorio Ambrosiano in Milan, a successful experience proposed at Design Week. After the success, the concept was replicated in Rio de Janeiro (Reffetorio Gastromotival) , in London (Reffetorio Felix in St Cuthbert ), also in Bologna (Social Tables Antoniano) and Modena (Social Tables Ghirlandina).
