Celebrating its 35th anniversary at a new address (the Aliança da Bahia Building, a landmark of modernist architecture in downtown Rio), CASACOR Rio de Janeiro 2026 features collections from Portinari across 12 different projects. The spaces engage in dialogue with the building's history and highlight a diversity of possibilities in the application of coverings as part of the projects' design language. Among mineral references, woods, earthy tones, colors and textures, the projects showcase the sponsoring brand and demonstrate how scale, layout and materiality can alter the perception of projects and create distinct identities from the same portfolio.

Limestones, travertines, onyx, oak, clay and concrete appear in large formats, bricks, reliefs and pieces with organic contours. Petra sintered stone slabs are the option in spaces that want to expand the scale and continuity of surfaces.

According to Patrícia Pizzetti, Marketing Manager at Portinari, the 12 projects show that contemporary architecture has sought more freedom in combining materials, scales and references. "We see large-format products coexisting with smaller pieces and more expressive layouts, as well as inspirations from stones and woods alongside more striking colors. For Portinari, it is very rewarding to see the same portfolio take on such distinct interpretations based on each professional's identity," she states.

Expanded continuity with large formats

In several projects featuring Portinari, architects took advantage of large formats to expand the sense of continuity. In Casa Abraço Deca, designed by Cadé Marino, with integrated spaces, curved shapes, natural light and emphasis on Brazilian design, the brand appears on the light base of Vestígios OFW NAT DD (120 x 120 cm), combined with wood nuances in Carvalho Essential BE NAT. In the kitchen, the brand appears in the support area with the Petra Fóssil Algodão Mate sintered stone slab (320 x 160 cm).

The pursuit of more continuous surfaces also appears in Suíte Permanência, a project by Fernanda Zanetta and Izabela Lessa, from LessazAnetta Arquitetura, which uses the Limestone Eterna SGR NAT DD product, inspired by limestones, as a neutral base for the space marked by the composition of precise lines, punctuated by design pieces and artworks. Inspired by limestones, the gray surface creates a neutral base for the space.

In Le Café des Patrícias, by Daniel Marques Mendes and Ana Cano, the Travertino Vein Cut BE ACT DD slab (120 x 270 cm) brings longitudinal lines and mineral variations inspired by travertine to the space. The combination of the slab with the beige tone complements the café's atmosphere and creates a light base for the composition. In Casa Co/Existir, by Sandro Batalha and Rafael Gomes, the continuity of surfaces comes from the large-format Vestígios OFW DD covering (120 x 120 cm), which establishes a light base and complements the composition with a discreet presence.

Stones and mineral references in new interpretations

Mineral inspiration is the highlight in different projects at the Rio show. In Recôndito Manso, by Sergio Conde Caldas (SCC Arquitetos Associados), the Kit Limestone Eterna SBE DD (115 x 113 cm), in a light tone, brings details inspired by limestone and a layout that combines different scales and organic patterns. In the Loja da Casa project, by Anna Beatriz Fadul, the Onix Minerale WH NAT interprets the translucency and veining of onyx on a light surface, adding depth to the commercial space.

Finally, at Casa Glade, by Paula Neder, of PN+, earthy tones and different finishes create a natural atmosphere. Among the choices is the sintered stone sheet Petra Traços Marrom Mate, with a design signed by Alex Hanazaki, marked by lines and graphic gestures.

Rhythm with colors and layouts

Portinari also appears in projects where color and change of scale take on a central role. This is the case of the Olhar Carioca Ótica space, by Luan Freitas, which presents a contrast between the light base of the Kit Limestone Eterna SBE Hard DD, in an organic format (115 x 113 cm), and the red bricks of Autoria RD NAT (7.7 x 24 cm).

Red also appears in the Cozinha Afetiva, by Juliana Acar and Flavia Dias. The bricks of Autoria RD NAT dialogue with Vestígios Decor Mix. While the color warms the projects, the relief pieces create variations of light and shadow and reinforce the tactile dimension of the composition.

At Studio Centro, Cristina Japiassú combines two bricks (Autoria SGN NAT and Autoria OFW NAT, in green and white) with the large formats of Argilas SBE NAT and Argilas SRD Hard (both 120 x 120 cm), inspired by the tones of Brazilian soils.

In the Casa Una project, by Jacira Pinheiro, the Mood WH NAT pieces, in a smaller scale (15 x 15 cm), appear as a counterpoint to the large format of Limestone Eterna OFW NAT DD (120 x 120 cm), creating an alternation that differentiates the uses without breaking the unity of the projects.

Warmth in wood and organic shapes

In the Toda Infância project, by Sophia Abraham, the desire not to limit the space to a single age group guided the choice of the Kit Carvalho Essential SBE NAT (152.1 x 96.8 cm). The Gales SBE NAT (120 x 120 cm) received special cuts inspired by the contours of the Kit Gales Organic. The alternation between graphic lines and irregular shapes adds movement to the composition.

Once again, the interpretation of wood led to the choice of Carvalho Essencial in the Casa Abraço Deca, designed by Cadé Marino: the covering reinforces the welcoming atmosphere and the trend of mixing technological surfaces with references found in nature.
