Initiatives presented at the exhibition bring together architecture, technology and the circular economy, showing that sustainability also involves design choices

Sustainability occupies an increasingly relevant space in architecture and design projects, not just as a concept, but as a set of choices capable of transforming the way people live, consume and relate to natural resources. At CASACOR Ribeirão Preto 2026, this perspective appears associated with solutions ranging from energy efficiency to waste management and environmental education.
Open to the public until October 12, the showcase brings together initiatives that highlight how the home can incorporate more efficient technologies and practices without giving up comfort, functionality and quality of life. Among them is the participation of Necta, which presents different possibilities for using natural gas in residential and commercial projects.

During the exhibition, this energy source appears in applications such as stoves, barbecue grills, fireplaces and water heaters, in addition to a solution aimed at power generation. A natural gas generator Generac Guardian, installed at CASACOR Ribeirão Preto through a partnership between Avanço Engenharia, Generac and Necta, demonstrates how technology can contribute to the energy security of homes and enterprises. In case of an interruption in the electricity supply, the equipment can start operating automatically.
In addition to energy security, the solution also highlights environmental aspects. According to Lupércio Avanço Junior, director of Avanço Engenharia e Geradores, considering the emission factor per unit of fuel energy, natural gas can emit approximately 25% less CO₂ than diesel, in addition to significantly reducing particulate matter emissions. The system also eliminates the need to store and refuel diesel on site, reducing risks of leaks, odors and contamination.
Power generation from natural gas also establishes a connection with other technologies present at the exhibition, such as electric vehicle chargers. The proposal is to highlight how different solutions can act in an integrated way in a home that is increasingly efficient and prepared for new demands.

If energy efficiency is one of the fronts of sustainability presented at CASACOR, waste management broadens this discussion to the urban projects. It is in this context that the work of Instituto Recicla+ Ribeirão Preto gains relevance. Launched in 2024, the institute, which will be responsible for the selective waste collection at CASACOR 2026, has the mission of promoting socio-environmental impact through awareness and strengthening the local recycling chain, transforming waste into valuable resources.
The work developed by Recicla+ involves directing the recyclable materials collected to independent environmental agents, the so-called waste pickers, and to Cooperativa Recicla Ribeirão MRM (CRRM). In this way, recycling is associated not only with environmental preservation, but also with income generation, social inclusion and the appreciation of professionals essential to urban sustainability.

At CASACOR 2026, Instituto Recicla+ structured and operates a complete selective collection system with traceability, productive inclusion and measurable impact. Through this partnership, every recyclable waste produced during the event is given a new destination and purpose.
This partnership was also carried out in the 2025 edition of CASACOR and brought excellent results. On that occasion, 288 kilos of recyclable waste were repurposed over the 55 days of the event, with these materials being reintroduced into the production chain. In addition, 100% of the collected materials had an environmentally appropriate destination. Paper and cardboard were the materials that made up most of the recycled items, at 80.5%. Next came glass, at 14.9%, plastic, at 4.1%, and metal, at 0.5%.
"CASACOR shows that sustainability is a strategic project decision. When an event of this scale structures selective waste collection with traceability, every kilo of recyclable waste stops becoming trash and returns to the production chain, generating income for environmental agents and cooperatives. This is the circular economy happening in practice, and not just in speech," highlights Patrícia Casemiro, responsible for partnerships and ESG solutions at Instituto Recicla+ Ribeirão Preto.

Among the other initiatives adopted by Recicla+ is the Selective Waste Collection Program in Residential Condominiums, which combines the implementation of collectors, structured collection, environmental advisory and consulting, training for residents and staff, educational communication, reports, and a rewards system. More than ensuring the correct disposal of waste, the proposal seeks to encourage community engagement, foster the circular economy, and increase income for environmental agents and partner cooperatives.
Environmental education is another pillar of this transformation. Recicla+ develops ongoing actions in schools, condominiums, and local communities, encouraging new practices of consumption and responsible disposal. The premise is that behavioral changes depend on information and awareness, making sustainability no longer a one-off initiative but an integral part of daily decisions.
Since last year, Instituto Recicla+ has maintained a fundraising campaign through the Recycling Incentive Law (LIR), a federal mechanism that directs part of Income Tax owed to projects approved by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. The law provides for the allocation of up to 1% of the tax owed by companies taxed under the Real Profit regime and up to 6% by individuals who file the complete return. The resources are applied to expanding selective waste collection, environmental education, and strengthening cooperatives and environmental agents.

The recycling challenge in Ribeirão Preto is significant. According to data compiled by Instituto Recicla+, Ribeirão Preto generates around 750 tons of waste per day, of which an estimated 40% has recycling potential. Even so, only about 1.3% of the total is effectively recycled, according to City Hall data for 2025. The scenario reinforces the importance of initiatives that connect residents, companies, schools, condominiums, cooperatives, and environmental agents around a more organized and efficient recycling chain.
By bringing together different initiatives related to sustainability, CASACOR Ribeirão Preto broadens the perspective on the theme: a more conscious architecture involves both the technologies incorporated into projects and the choices made in daily life, as well as the way resources are used and disposed of. Energy efficiency, circular economy, environmental education, and social inclusion thus become part of the same discussion about the spaces we want to build for the future.
