CASACOR RS 2026 earns the GBC LIFE Performance Rating seal, a benchmark in health and well-being in projects

For the first time, the new version of GBC LIFE was applied to interior projects at CASACOR Rio Grande do Sul. The certification recognized six projects of different uses: a children's bedroom, a kitchen, a living and dining area, a loft, a café, and a store.

The process verifies, through documentation, whether the solutions proposed by the professionals were effectively executed. Among the criteria analyzed are air quality, lighting, paint selection, origin and use of materials, biophilia, reuse and disposal of the waste generated during assembly.

"GBC LIFE looks at architecture from the perspective of the health and well-being of those who occupy the spaces. In the six projects certified by CASACOR RS, we found professionals who already showed concern for comfort, material selection, and what happens to them after the show. The certification brings technical criteria to evaluate these decisions and shows that, even in temporary projects, it is possible to think beyond aesthetics and consider the impacts of each choice," states Joana Giugliani, environmental consultant at BeGreen.

The certification opens up a discussion about how architecture created to remain installed for only a few weeks can incorporate lasting solutions. The certified projects show how circularity, environmental quality, connection with nature, and responsible material selection can be part of temporary projects and produce benefits that endure beyond the show's period.

Two projects help translate these criteria into practice. In the Kitchen of the Future, by Carlos Porto, conventional cabinetry was replaced by aluminum structures, a resistant, durable, and recyclable material. The 40 m² project also features a central glass island and a functional vegetable garden, bringing food cultivation closer to the domestic routine.

In the LabStore, designed by Miint&Co, the certification aligns with the application of neuroarchitecture and the selection of reused or lower-impact materials. The 350 m² space uses carpets made with recycled PET, natural coverings, and structural cardboard reused in the ceiling and displays. Light, sounds, colors, pathways, and textures were planned considering their effects on visitors' well-being, memory, and behavior.
