Refúgio Cedro brings Lebanese legacy and culture to CASACOR Brasília 2024

Alessandra Moussa and Marcelo Netto explore family roots and Lebanese ancestry in the 32nd edition of the exhibition

Alessandra Moussa and Marcelo Netto - Refúgio do Cedro. The duo's project was developed in a 44 m² space filled with memories. The great inspiration for the space is Alessandra's father, who died in 2003, a Lebanese man who arrived in Brazil at the age of 19 fleeing the war in Lebanon. The space features a painting by the honoree, as well as a huge stone wall with a prominent niche containing the honoree's personal objects. The space also features recently launched furniture by names such as Samuca Gerber and Fabrício Ronca.

The Refúgio Cedro environment , designed by civil engineers Alessandra Moussa and Marcelo Netto for CASACOR Brasília 2024 , is more than a decorated space; is a moving tribute to his roots and family legacy. With 44 m², the project carries the soul and Lebaneseancestry of the professionals, being a loving tribute to Alessandra's father, Marcelo's grandfather. This man, who at 19 years old left Lebanon in search of peace, found refuge in new lands, but never abandoned his love for the art and culture of his homeland.

The tribute is realized in every detail of the space, where the functionality of the stripped-down kitchen meets the depth of family memories. An imposing stone wall , with a large niche carefully designed to house the honoree's personal objects, and a canvas painted by Alessandra's own father bring to life the self-taught man's passion for colors and shapes. “He had a passion for villages, and the work he painted, which is in the space, highlights this. He said that beauty was in simplicity . The screen guided me in choosing the colors of the environment, such as earthy and green tones ”, explains Moussa. “The relationship between the environment and this year's theme As a gift, now is the gift I receive today, looking at the legacy that my father left. Love of art and everything that refers to poetry”, adds Moussa.
With carefully selected furniture , the space brings together pieces by designers Samuca Gerber and Fabrício Ronca . Made from reforested wood and biodegradable leather, the furniture is not just an aesthetic choice, but a commitment to sustainability , respecting the natural origin of materials and promoting recycling practices. Refúgio Cedro goes beyond just a living space; it is an authentic expression of affection and reverence, which brings to light the essence of a family legacy . Every detail reflects the desire to keep the connection with our roots alive and transmit values that go beyond generations. A present of the now, which intertwines with the past and projects a future full of meaning.
