From talented young people to professionals already renowned in the market, the group of newcomers to
CASACOR Rio de Janeiro could not be more diverse. There are
eight architecture, interior design and landscaping offices that are participating in the show for the first time, bringing their creative perspective and different styles. for this 30th edition, which takes place
from March 2nd to May 9th , at Residência Brando Barbosa, in Jardim Botânico. Learn a little more about the work of each of them and their ideas for the event!
Anna Beatriz Fadul and Gregory Copello
Brazilianness is the hallmark of the
Fadul Copello Arquitetura office, led by Anna Beatriz Fadul from Rio de Janeiro and Gregory Copello from Bahia. Partners for three years, the two architects always seek to bring the personality of the resident to their projects, but
with a contemporary-tropical touch . Style which can be seen at

CASACOR Rio . The space created by the duo presents the glasses as true works of art and takes advantage of the garden, bringing greenery into the environment. “The house is contemplative from the moment you open its gates. So, we created a project that also has a link with the architecture of the mansion”, says Gregory, who celebrates his first participation in the exhibition: “
CASACOR is an incredible showcase that offers the possibility of consolidating our trajectory and a dream for all architects”.
Embyá Landscapes and Ecosystems
Specializing in ecosystem landscaping,
Embyá works on gardens of different scales: from apartments to large subdivisions, always concerned not only with the composition of plants and spaces, but also with the quality of the soil, the interaction with fauna and how users of the space will be able to interact with nature. It is this expertise that landscaper
Duarte Vaz , a partner in the company since its founding 11 years ago and a disciple of Burle Marx, brings to the
Jardim da Escultura , a space he created at
CASACOR Rio . “The original gardens of the house are a kind of
introduction to the forest that surrounds the entire region of the Botanical Garden , and with minimal pressure and control over the flora. There is no intention there to tame nature, which is very interesting. So, we are taking based on this in our creation”, says Duarte, maintaining a bit of mystery about what will be seen in the exhibition.
Manu+Ca Studio
The first professional meeting between interior designers
Catarina Gouvêa Vieira and
Manu Cardim was at Azul Arquitetura, Lia Siqueira's office. And the connection was so great that even though they were pursuing “solo careers”, from time to time, the two would partner up in a project here, another there. But, because of their participation in this edition of
CASACOR Rio , the duo decided to make their union official and created
Estúdio Manu+Ca . We will see the result from March 2nd at
Lavabo e
Galeria da House , which they are decorating for the show. “The bathroom was already very charming. We fell in love when we saw it and really wanted to do it. It is a challenge to create a project for a space with such special characteristics, and it is a great pleasure to know that everything will be preserved”, highlights Manu.
Lucilla Pessoa de Queiroz and Renata Caiafa Quintanilha
It was also to work with Lia Siqueira that
Lucilla Pessoa de Queiroz from Pernambuco moved to Rio – after being hired by phone. And she landed in the city in the middle of preparations for
CASACOR Rio 2000! She spent five years with Lia and one season in fashion until she decided to open her own interior design office. And it was to work there, as an architecture intern, that
Renata Caiafa Quintanilha arrived. Seven years ago, the two became partners. During that period, Lucilla, who already had the trained as an interior designer, he also graduated in architecture. Now, in their first participation in
CASACOR Rio , the duo creates the
Café and brings a creative and playful look to the space. “We wanted to
redefine the utensils related to coffee . They will be everywhere in unusual ways”, says Lucilla, who will also have the luxurious assistance of ceramist
Denise Stewart in creating some of the pieces that will be used in the environment.
UP3 Architecture
Three and a half years ago, architects
Michelle Wilkinson ,
Thiago Morsch and
Cadé Marino decided to turn their friendship into a partnership and opened the
UP3 office. Since then, they have managed to create their own style that they often call
Scandinavian-Carioca . “It’s industrial, but not It’s cold. It has a light, clean architecture, but with a bit of that Rio flair,” explains Cadé. The trio brings this unique style to their home, a house built with a metal structure amidst the green gardens of
CASACOR Rio that presents
a different proposal for each of the spaces, based on their use . A place to receive guests, the living room gains a the sofa that hugs; the bathroom is the space dedicated to renovation; and the kitchen, always considered the heart of the house, here occupies the center of the construction so that everything happens around it. The house has even won the
Healthy Home seal from Health Building Certificate (HBC) – the same one achieved by
Duda Porto with her Casa Lite at CASACOR SP, in 2019 .
Vivian Reimers
Bolivian architect and interior designer
Vivian Reimers is in her second season in Rio de Janeiro – after a period living in Lisbon, where she completed a doctorate in design. But her work is spread across many places: Bolivia, Lisbon, Berlin and, of course, in many apartments in the South Zone of Rio, where she currently lives. A fan of contemporary style, Vivian has dreamed of participating in
CASACOR Rio for a long time and celebrates her debut at such a challenging time. “Since I live in an apartment, during the entire period of isolation , I really missed being in contact with nature.
Arriving home and seeing that my space would be in the middle of the garden with a beautiful tree in the background was a gift ”, she says, who incorporated greenery into the design of her bookstore.
In its 30th edition,
CASACOR Rio de Janeiro will have, for the first time, a
hybrid format , with an
in-person version , from March 2nd to May 9th, which will be focused on the experience of visiting the house:
an iconic mansion in the Botanical Gardens surrounded by 12,000 m² of Atlantic Forest; and a
digital version , which will favor
new formats and further expand its audience , which, even from a distance, will be able to explore every corner of the 38 environments – including spaces, patios and gardens – in a digital guide with interactive videos and 3D tours. This time, the exhibition brings together
57 professionals including architects, interior designers and landscapers.
