"In this project, the most important thing was to let the works of art decorate the spaces," reveals João Armentano , author of the renovation project for this apartment for a businessman from Rio de Janeiro, located in one of the most valued addresses in Rio de Janeiro. If the impressive collection of works of art was the starting point for the total transformation of the property, the stunning view of Ipanema beach was the guiding concept. “ I wanted to bring the beach into the living room . We prioritized integration: sometimes towards the landscape and sometimes internally between the spaces without interference visuals", adds João. This way, the view of Ipanema can be enjoyed from all angles of the living room, in addition to the natural light and ventilation available in almost all environments.

And when it came time to think about the furniture pieces, the architect mixed design classics with period pieces , such as the French sofa contrasting with the generous sofa by Antonio Citterio for B&B Italia. “The idea is to make the spaces talk to each other and allow the owner to have total control of the apartment, with lots of harmony, color and life".

Neutral tones, such as the travertine marble floor, predominate as the basis of the interior architecture as they are the backdrop for the works of art that bring ports of color and form to the project, such as the diptych by Adriana Varejão and the canvases by Beatriz Milhazes. .
According to the architect, this renovation project was a great joy, because in addition to the address with access to everything the city has to offer, the view and the arts, the great highlight was the harmony between João Armentano's aesthetic proposals and the owners of the property and all those involved.

The house exudes personality and reveals the characteristics of its residents — a couple with two children — such as elegance, simplicity and an undeniable passion for art. And also, according to the architect: "When people ask me what is a trend, I quickly answer: personality. A house must reflect the history of its owners, their trajectory, origins, travels, all in harmony with the current moment that changes and is constantly renewed."

João Armentano has countless projects in his vast and elegant portfolio. But the result of this project brings something special: "it is a place that breathes and leaves a feeling of freedom for those who live there", he concludes.
