With the aim of revealing new talents in the market, CASACOR São Paulo, in partnership with Muuving, is promoting the largest architecture and interior design marathon in the country. Participants will be challenged to create a project that will be judged by a committee made up of renowned professionals. The winning group will receive as a prize the opportunity to design one of the spaces in the largest and most complete exhibition in the area in the Americas. During the marathon, the participating teams will be guided by mentors - renowned professionals in the market and academia - who will act as advisors and provide all the necessary support for the development of the projects within the event's proposal. These "gurus" will help the teams create a sense for the architecture and design of the environment and will select the best ones for presentation in the grand final of the ARCHATHON. Alexandre Salles, an architect and master in Urban Semiotics, graduated from the School of Architecture and Urbanism at USP, coordinates the Interior Design courses at the Instituto Europeu di Design – IED São Paulo. With extensive experience in major architecture firms in São Paulo, as well as collaborations in national and international architecture projects and competitions, in 2011 he founded Estúdio Tarimba, a multidisciplinary office focused on developing corporate, commercial and residential projects, consulting and design research.
Roberto Negrette
The Argentinean began his studies in Architecture and Urbanism in Buenos Aires, but completed her degree at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie. She moved to Brazil in 1982 and worked as an interior designer at the office of Clarice Reade and Antônio Henrique Noronha until 1988. Since then, she has had her own studio with several projects in the commercial and residential areas and numerous awards. Negrette was also president of ABD - Brazilian Association of Interior Designers.
Alexandre Cafcalas
The architect graduated from the School of Architecture and Urbanism at USP in 1995. The following year, he began partnerships with Brazilian and Spanish professionals and
postgraduate studies in Barcelona and Madrid. His studio works on developing projects for buildings of various scales, although his interests permeate research, curation, and teaching activities. Among his main achievements, he received the First Prize from the Brazilian Institute of Architects for the design of Institutional Buildings in 2008, the First Prize in the Preliminary Design Competition for the FAMESP Convention Center, in Botucatu, and was also a finalist in the Ibero-American Biennial, Chile/Spain, in 2002.

He is a professor at the School of Architecture and Urbanism at USP. He has over 15 years of experience as a professor at universities such as FAAP, UNIP, IED, Mackenzie and IMED; he is a visiting professor at the International Honors Program (IHP), Columbia and MIT. He is also a founding partner of FGMF Arquitetos, which has been in the market for over 15 years.
Mario Figueroa
The Chilean architect graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas in 1988 and received his doctorate in the field from USP in 2002. With numerous award-winning and internationally recognized projects, he has worked as a professor at FAAP and Mackenzie and as a lecturer at universities in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, Mexico and Panama. He was a founding partner of “Estúdio de América” in 2007 and at the end of 2011, in partnership with Letícia Tamisari, he created the architecture firm FIGUEROA.ARQ.
Leticia Tamisari
Letícia Tamisari will be the mentors’ substitute in case any of them are unable to attend the event. The architect and urban planner graduated from Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie and has a technical degree in Interior Design from ETEC. In 2011, she was an intern at Estúdio América. In early 2012, she helped found the FIGUEROA.ARQ office.

How does the project marathon work? 03/17 ArchaDay: a day reserved for quality information, in which participants are encouraged to reflect on current topics related to Architecture and Design. Lectures and chats with leading professionals and brands, in addition to the presence of institutions with significant performance.
03/18 Marathon Day: Environment Briefing Once the timer starts, the groups have around 14 hours to complete the mission: develop a project using products from the event's partners.
03/19 – Presentation of projects to mentors. After this round, the mentors decide who will go to the grand finale. The finalists make a five-minute pitch to the Judging Panel.
