It is very easy to resort to clichés when working in spaces with unclear functionality, such as the balcony. Creating an authentic and comfortable environment in a narrow area of the mansion hosting the show was the challenge posed by the architect duo Alessandro Cavalcanti and Ricardo Makhul for CASACOR. Paraná 2018. The space designed by the professionals was the beautiful Social Balcony .
The balcony embraces the mansion that hosts the exhibition in three axes. Taking advantage of this spatial logic, the project was conceived in sectors, each with its own particularity, but united by the aesthetic language: contemplation, introspection and celebration. As CASACOR 's 2018 theme isThe Living House , the Social Balcony, is seen as architecture that is shaped by humanity, by the occupant.
Prepared to welcome people at different emotional moments, it accompanies the changes of the inhabitants, taking into account their needs. This dynamic nature of functions transforms it into a truly living space.
The proposal was based on creating an environment as an extension of the internal social areas of the house.
Since the width was reduced, the furniture is composed of loose pieces for circulation and large fixed quartzite sideboards, which represent a concrete element of union between the sectors. Multifunctional, it functions at times as a support for benches, a fireplace or a niche for objects. Large names in Brazilian design, carefully curated, are present at the location.
There, visitors will find the Kilin armchair and Mocho bench by master Sergio Rodrigues, the Estrela armchairs by Estúdio Campana, the Bird Houses by Lattoog Design, Capadoccia sofas, and Ayty and Birillo benches by the award-winning Saccaro brand. The color palette is predominantly in wood tones, which contrast with the graffiti on the walls and the white of the quartzite objects.
The objective of the Social Balcony is to offer a rescue of values and coexistence through architecture, awakening nostalgia, but presenting new solutions and proposals.
