Gianni Versace's Milan home on via Gesù became the setting for the presentation of the new Versace Home collection, which debuts at FuoriSalone 2019 with an installation by interior designer Sasha Bikoff and artist Andy Dixon.
The central courtyard has been transformed into a slice of Miami, with pink, blue and green neon lights illuminating furniture from the old Versace Home collections, reinterpreted by Sasha Bikoff, playing with the brand's aesthetics and iconography.
The inspiration is the Fall/Winter 1994 advertising campaign, shot by Richard Avedon. A pastel-colored collection worn by the great models of the 90s: Nadja Auermann, Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford and Stephanie Seymour. The same colors as the huge carpet that covers the entire space and which, together with the clouds and islands that house the furniture, are a tribute to the nineties, to the gold lamé dresses and the colors of Miami.
The first, already on display in New York at the exhibition "Look at this material, it's not pure", reproduces an iconic Versace print, is three meters high by two meters and is entirely hand-painted. Two other shirts descend like chandeliers at the along the stairs: these are copies created by Dixon in collaboration with Donatella Versace, which depict the symbolic elements of his art in the typical context of the brand, taking on a theme from the original shirt he created.
The revisiting of the Versace world and its pop-style aesthetic continues in the Pop Medusa furniture collection, whose centerpiece is a polyethylene seat, suitable for both indoor and outdoor spaces, featuring a Medusa-shaped backrest.
Among the new products, the first outdoor collection, Jungle: a family of sofas, armchairs, swings, sun loungers and a gray teak table named after the print first introduced in the Spring/Summer 2000 collection, endorsed by Jennifer Lopez at the Grammy Awards making a big fuss about bringing about the creation of Google Images.
