The Kaikaya restaurant in Valencia combines Japanese culture with Brazilian tropicalism in its decor and cuisine

The lighting is provided by chandeliers and lamps made especially for the project. Following the visual line of the rice sieves, the pieces receive golden structures as supports, parrots and anthuriums. On the upper floor, the highlight is the furniture: the armchairs are half inspired by Brazil and half by Japan. 
Kaikaya is a restaurant in the Spanish city of Valencia with a very particular style. It mixes Japanese aesthetics with Brazilian tropicalism. Run by Studio Masquespacio, the place was inspired by the trajectory of its owner, a surfing enthusiast of Japanese descent. Both cuisine and design reflect the union of the two cultures, especially gastronomy, which emerged when the first Japanese arrived in Brazil, at the beginning of the 20th century, and adapted their dishes to the ingredients available in the new territory.
