Textures that reveal the nature of materials help to build projects full of personality. Among the possibilities that explore this aesthetic, the roughcast wall stands out for its irregular surface, which adds visual depth and brings interiors closer to a more natural language. At CASACOR 2026, the technique appears in projects that highlight the expression of materials and the different sensations they awaken.
Combined with stones, wood, natural fibers and indirect lighting, this finish demonstrates how an apparently simple surface can take part in the identity of a space. From contemporary proposals to retreats inspired by nature, the projects reveal different ways of incorporating texture into decoration, creating contrasts between rusticity, sophistication and comfort.
In civil construction, roughcast is a layer of mortar applied over surfaces such as masonry and concrete to increase roughness and improve the adhesion of the following layers of coating. Traditionally, therefore, its function is technical. However, when kept exposed as a finish, the grainy effect becomes part of the aesthetic composition, enhancing the irregularities of the surface and giving a rustic look to the walls.
The application requires proper specification regarding adhesion and durability. In decoration, the result can be combined with natural materials, furniture with simple lines and lights that highlight the relief, creating projects in which texture takes the leading role. Below, we have gathered 7 projects at CASACOR 2026 that embraced this trend!
Larissa Dias e Natália Dias - Nosso Alpendre. Projeto da CASACOR Brasília 2026. (Edgard César/CASACOR)
More than a transition space, the porch by Larissa and Natália Dias values gathering, contemplation and connection with nature. In the 180 sqm of the project that is part of CASACOR Brasília 2026, veranda, living room and gourmet area are integrated in a composition marked by wood, quartzites, stone and glass.
The roughcast wall adds a layer of texture that dialogues with the natural materiality of the other elements, reinforcing the welcoming atmosphere. The muxarabi in cumaru wood, the integrated fireplace, the antiques, the works by Brazilian artists and the furniture curation by Cássio Veiga Casa complete the contemporary proposal.
Studio Essere - Entre-Nós. Projeto da CASACOR Brasília 2026. (Edgard César/CASACOR)
Inspired by the strength of the Cerrado, the project by Studio Essere, also at CASACOR Brasília 2026, brings together natural materials, mineral surfaces and earthy tones in 97 sqm. Quartzite stands out on the countertop, the supports and the display stands, while wood appears on the panels, on the bleachers of the multipurpose space and on the atelier table.
The texture of the roughcast wall takes part in this dialogue between materials and surfaces, reinforcing the connection with nature. Center and side tables in fused glass and works of art complement the project, which proposes a space of exchanges and connections, with others and with oneself.
Kadu Reis - Espaço Confluência. Projeto da CASACOR Ribeirão Preto 2026. (Keniche Santos/CASACOR)
In the Espaço Confluência at CASACOR Ribeirão Preto 2026, Kadu Reisbrings together two universes: the mountains, with their welcoming solidity, and the sea, marked by the fluidity of the senses. Instead of reproducing landscapes, the project explores contrasts between emptiness and fullness, weight and lightness, fluidity and firmness, in a contemporary rustic architecture that incorporates pieces of Brazilian design.
In this context, the roughcast wall reinforces the tactile dimension of the composition and converses with the more organic language of the projects. The indirect lighting completes the intimate atmosphere, creating a refuge conducive to pause, introspection, and reconnection.
Vitor Pellini (Pellini Arquitetura) - Entretempos. Projeto da CASACOR Ribeirão Preto 2026. (Keniche Santos/CASACOR)
Imagined as a refuge for those who appreciate art and design, Entretempos brings together books, works, and objects that record affections, discoveries, and experiences. At CASACOR Ribeirão Preto 2026, Vitor Pellini opts for a discreet aesthetic, which values authenticity and focuses attention on the essential elements.
The wood adds density and warmth, while the roughcast wall keeps the material in evidence. Indirect lighting shapes the volumes and highlights the textures throughout the day, reinforcing the contemplative atmosphere of a space designed for reading, presenting a collection, and welcoming friends.
Isabela Tonial - C’ALMA CHOCOLATES. (Edgard César/CASACOR)
At CASACOR Goiás 2026, C'alma Chocolates, the debut project of Isabela Tonial, transforms tasting into a ritual of pause and emotional memory. The proposal explores earthy tones and materials linked to the artisanal origin of chocolate, such as bronzite quartzite and ceramic applied to the floor and walls.
The texture of the roughcast complements this material language, adding relief to the composition and reinforcing the sense of proximity to natural elements. A garden of cocoa husks perfumes the space, while the furniture designed by the architect contributes to a sensory experience marked by silence and warmth.
María Inés Justiniano - Galería Bibosi. Ambiente da CASACOR Bolívia 2026. (Alvaro Mier/CASACOR)
With curved and fluid geometry, Galería Bibosi, by María Inés Justiniano at CASACOR Bolivia 2026, proposes a conscious pause between the exterior and the interior. The sculptural presence of the project, inspired by the poet Raúl Otero Reiche, combines wood, stone, and natural fibers in a composition that brings art and nature closer together.
The roughcast wall adds a tactile dimension to this repertoire, contrasting with the fluidity of the forms and enhancing the expression of the materials. The design organizes the path, while the textures and light provide emotional depth to the space, which also pays tribute to the cultural memory of Santa Cruz.
Marcos Serrano Miralles Arquitetura - SPA Raízes. (Bia Nauiack/CASACOR)
In Spa Raízes, at CASACOR São Paulo 2026, Marcos Serrano Mirallesproposes projects to quiet the senses and slow down the daily pace. The neutral base gains tactile richness with the rustic linen of the bedding, the thar walnut applied on doors and cabinets, and the travertine shards on floors and walls.
The roughcast wall integrates into this composition by highlighting the irregularities of the surfaces and the natural character of the materials. The ceiling uses acoustic sheets made from recycled PET bottles, while a mini-fridge intended for skincare products adds a lighthearted touch to the space dedicated to well-being.
