Right at the entrance of CASACOR Ceará 2019, the public is surprised by the colors that explode from Cris Cavalcante 's paintings. The art gallery project, designed by Claryanne Aguiar , spreads over 150 m² with more than 20 paintings and 10 sculptures in which Cris applies her technique directly in acrylic. The artist has a background in chemistry, which was necessary for the conception of her method: she analyzed the reaction between pigments, how they attract and repel each other, thus creating ultra-colorful paintings – her trademark.

To house the gallery, the space was expanded and transformed into a playful studio, with space to sell the creations. Natural materials such as stone prevail in the project proposal, which embraces the minimalism of black and white to give the desired prominence to the works. The great charm is the waterfall in natural stone with 3D work. Cris Cavalcante laments the lack of female protagonism in the arts: "we really miss more female artists, women who influence art". She says that she is creating, together with other artists, the group Strong Women in Art. "There is still a barrier very big. It is a very pertinent flag to seek at this time when there is so much talk about female empowerment - it seems like a clichéd word - but it is very important that we have greater representation, that we leave marks in a deep way, in a strong way, so that people see us." coleção-disruptura-cris-cavalcante-ce-2019 That's why the artist also named her new series of works Disruption . "It's a word that doesn't exist in Portuguese, but for me it's a break in the work process. It expresses the idea of a break in paradigms, in procedures, that art is always made in the same way, in the same way". CASACOR CEARÁ 2019
