Just as the name of the space suggests – Loft Caleidoscoop – architect Maicon Antoniolli brings to CASACOR São Paulo 2018 an environment inspired by the three faces of the kaleidoscope and the use of color in its aspects: composition, distortion and fragmentation.

The loft designed to showcase the colors of Tintas Coral shows a bold aesthetic exercise where there is no white surface. The living room, for example, has a colorful block shape in the tone “Old Writing”. Contrasting with the tones of pink and red of the furniture, this navy blue expanse connects the living room to the two subsequent side spaces.

In the kitchen and in the coworking space, Antoniolli played with spatial dynamics and notions of height, width and depth, using colored paints, which help to create these environments. Specifically in the coworking space, the visual experience is combined with the versatile environment. This space It is divided into microenvironments that allow different types of quick meetings due to the furniture.

To achieve this, the architect sought references in the works of the German-born American colorist Josef Albers (1888 - 1976), who relates colors to the sensation of depth. To subvert the order of the lines, the architect was inspired by the work of Hércules Basotti (1914 - 2010), known for his distorted perspectives. The professional went a step further and, instead of choosing complementary or analogous tones for decoration, he used a range of unconventional, but still surprising, compositions.

In the suite there is a third stage of the project, where each surface is treated differently and the materials and colored paint fragment the notion of space. The visual composition is led by sheets that do not touch, through which the light flows and accentuates the idea that we are inserted in a large kaleidoscope.

No less important, in all the loft settings there are vintage and sustainable furniture, which rescues memories of family life. There are pieces from antique shops, works of folk and indigenous art, made from simple materials, which also gain space in the project and rescue the heritage of artisanal production processes. These works dialogue with the work of contemporary artists such as photographer Rodrigo Petrella, as well as other artists represented by the Sancovsky and Mario Cohen galleries.
