Genderless: CASACOR spaces that break gender patterns

CASACOR São Paulo 2018: WC No Gender by Lisandro Piloni. Measuring 30 m², the space stands out for its inventive use of technology and colors to convey a profound and questioning message about sexuality. On one wall, the phrase Whatever You Want is displayed in neon. In each of the three booths, there is a surprise: artistic interventions by Mena and Rafael Zoli propose reflections on the body. The mirror appears once again as a form of contemplation, because the environment is a place of personal acceptance, there is no distinction between audiences and the goal is for everyone, with their eccentricities, to be able to admire themselves.

CASACOR São Paulo 2018: Baby Room by MN Arquitetura. In 25 m², the duo worked basically with two maxims: the genderless trend (a decoration without gender) and a playful atmosphere, in addition to, of course, bringing décor and solutions for the use of the space, both adults and children. “With contemporary life, we live far from the forests where nature manifests itself in all its fullness. When we saw that the theme of the exhibition is The Living House, it was the trigger to work with these elements, in addition to the initial concern of not delimiting the space as a boy or a girl. It is a baby room”, says Natasha.

CASACOR Rio de Janeiro 2017: Loft (U) by Studio Ro+Ca. A loft is a space designed with an ideal in mind: not to be defined by gender standards. Professionals Rodrigo Béze, Carlos Carvalho and Caio Carvalho wanted to create a space for a couple, whether it is made up of a man and a woman, two men or two women. The name, Loft (U) comes from the English word “ undefined ”, a space without sex, free from labels.

CASACOR Franca 2017: Interactive Children's Room by Adriana Fontana. The goal of this space was to create a place to play and relax that transcends gender. Both boys and girls can have fun on the climbing wall and identify with the cheerful colors that fill the walls. Even the traditional furniture in the rooms was transformed to be a playful experience.

In recent years, CASACOR professionals have presented some projects that break these paradigms and present ideas and proposals for genderless spaces, where the important thing is to be happy the way you are, without worrying about society's standards or ideals. Due to the relevance of the topic, we have selected some spaces with this theme, which has become a trend and promises to be here to stay (we believe and hope!).
