In the last decade, the number has increased by about 50%, representing an increase of more than 8.5 million people in this age group, according to the data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
With this scenario in mind, Flávia Ranieiri is presenting the
Longevity Studio at
CASACOR São Paulo 2018 , a 45
m² space, entirely focused on accommodating the elderly. The professional runs Somos Grou, which links quality of life and longevity with people's old age in mind. The studio designed by the professional is somewhat small, but well-appointed and has all the comforts needed for the elderly. When visiting the space, the public can dress in clothing that simulates the limitations of the elderly and experience the space. "The place was born to show that older people can also have and prolong their independence and autonomy, precisely with the best preparation of the place where they live", he states.
According to studies by professionals from USP (University of São Paulo), building homes that are prepared to receive and provide the necessary comfort for the elderly reduces around 40% of domestic accidents. Data from the Ministry of Health shows that 70% of accidents involving people over 60 years old happen inside their own homes.
Almost the entire environment is automated, leaving everything at the resident's fingertips. The bathroom has all the necessary accessibility and support.

In addition to promoting the autonomy and independence of the elderly, the project also has an impact on their families, since the place is designed with monitoring equipment to prevent any type of accident. "All the accessories are imperceptible and were designed exclusively for the most common accidents," explains Flávia.
