Architect Juliana Pippi chose only what was essential to create a compact, functional space, but full of beauty.

The disturbing question of what is truly essential was what led architect Juliana Pippi to create the Essential Suite for CASACOR Santa Catarina 2018. The answer she found was: a run by the sea, a comfortable bed, a warm bath in the end of the day or a mint tea in winter, simple ideas that turned into a cozy, fresh and graceful decoration. 
The small size was the initial challenge. Juliana made a point of designing an environment that visitors could identify with and project their own routines into. "I approach the principle of the essential with the idea of simplicity in all aspects of the environment. To begin with, with a size of 31 m² , my smallest space in the history of CASACOR Santa Catarina 2018. The choice was intentional, I wanted to work with a real space that the visitor could identify with. I think that after having participated in so many editions, this was a challenge that was missing", he explains. 
There is no excess here, natural materials rich in textures, such as wood and linen, bring warmth to furniture focused on functionality. For the colors of the room, light tones and a shade of green from the kokedama in one of the corners. On the ceiling, it reveals if the meticulous manual work of carbonization Shou Sugi Ban, which creates a coloration that mixes white, grays and blues. Next to the bed, a small hanging tree stands out. It is an unusual but delicate element that captures the eye . In every corner there is a little surprise, whether in the pieces of artist Fabiana Queiroga, on the walls and dressers, or in the hourglasses and books of its occupant. 
The bathroom prioritizes layout and use. Natural stones and marble mark every line and detail, bringing out all the richness of their shapes, such as the curves of the mirrors and the frame of the shower. Corda pendants by designer Guilherme Wentz ensure more punctual lighting and directed so that the most attentive look finds some subtleties: small branches in test tubes, architecture books and paintings.
