The professionals who designed these spaces, in addition to encouraging the practice, also teach the benefits and advantages they learned from green spaces. “The proposal of vertical gardens changes the environments and breaks the monotony of common coverings, bringing well-being and comfort to the place, in addition to other benefits. They allow nature to be present everywhere in the house and can be used as a clean and elegant decorative element, provide a natural and organic ambiance, improve air quality and provide oxygen, do not take up space if fixed to the wall, reduce daily stress, help maintain good health and provide harmony and tranquility”, explains architect Inês Scisci, responsible for the Master Suite of CASA COR CAMPINAS 2014. In addition to providing well-being to residents, vertical gardens also help prevent the proliferation of the dengue mosquito. According to interior designer and landscaper Solange Rubim, the water supply system of a vertical garden, in addition to being designed for watering and not wasting water, is also designed to not pose risks to the paint or coating of the wall. “The vertical panel models, called green panels, have a reservoir that stores water and nutrients. Depending on the temperature conditions, the system can remain without watering for up to two weeks. The water does not run down the walls, which allows installation in indoor environments without risks to the paint or coating. The panels are very simple and easy to install”, she emphasizes. According to professionals, the most common plants to use in vertical gardens are ferns, snake plants, bridal veils, Chinese lanterns, hanging asparagus, Portuguese lace, maranta variegata and milindre.
