The darkness of an area of Amsterdam was what caught Polylester Studio's attention for its installation. Artist Gabriel Lester and architect Martine Vledder developed the work Void-non-Void based on hip hop music and culture.
According to the stories told, at the first hip hop parties in the United States, someone had to stand next to the switch to turn the light on and off, creating the effect of a spectacle for the beat.
