This year, the Italian gallery owner invites the public to immerse themselves in recycled plastics and experimental projects

Rossana Orlandi, one of Milan’s most famous design gallerists and talent scouts, has split her time between two spaces at Milan Design Week 2019. This year, the curator will be rotating between her historic gallery on Via Bandello and Ro Garage. 
The second is a space set up not far away (C.so di Porta Vercellina 15) to host the projects selected for the Ro Platic Award, launched last year to select the best recycled plastic creations from around the world, divided into the categories of design, textiles, packaging and innovative ideas. At the entrance, an installation by artist Arsenio Rodriguez: a sea of plastic, reproduced with hundreds of PET bottles cut and recomposed to create an underwater landscape. 
But plastic is also the star of the gallery, where artists and designers have been exhibiting their most innovative creations for years. Among the works on display is the young Diederik Schneemann, for example, who creates vases and mirror frames from rubber recovered from the riverbanks. from East Africa, or hand-paint plastic Smurfs and reassemble them into a vase shape. Artist Olivier Goka has created a series of sculptures inspired by works of African ethnic art from museums and made from recycled plastic objects, from coat hangers to the casings of household appliances. Spanish artist Alvaro Catalán de Ocón is also in the exhibition, displaying his collection of Terrazzo tables. Alhambra, inspired by the postmodern style of the Memphis group, made with a mixture of glass bottles, marble, cement and colored resin. 
And, on the subject of sustainability, the result of the partnership between Sunbrella, Liz Collins and Ligne Roset, which features wall coverings and furniture, created by American artist Ligne Roset by recycling waste from Sunbrella's weaving processing. 
Scattered throughout the space are the installations of Anotherview, by Marco Tabasso, Robert Andriessen and Tatiana Uzlova: windows animated by videos that reproduce tropical scenes, bucolic landscapes or urban views.
