At CASACOR Bahia 2026, art does not appear merely as a complement to the decor. In six projects, art gains scale and becomes part of the architecture itself: it occupies walls, reaches the ceiling, crosses facades and, in one case, even integrates with a water fountain. The interventions were developed in dialogue with the architects responsible for the spaces and conceived from the design stage to participate in the atmosphere and narrative of each project.

The presence of painting reflects this edition's proposal of placing art at the center of the show. Rather than simply filling surfaces, the works carry family stories, symbols of abundance, references to Brazilian popular culture, and reflections on care and memory. The result is a closer relationship between artwork and space, in which the artistic intervention helps to build the identity of each project.

Painting that is born together with the space

In the project signed by Gabriel Magalhães, painting meets ceramics — and water. Alexandre Feliciano created a panel in acrylic paint on ceramic, installed inside the fountain that gives the space its name.

Fish occupy the surface as symbols of abundance, plenty, and movement, references present in different iconographies associated with the water element. The work thus does not merely accompany the project: it becomes part of its central element.

In the show's official coffee shop, signed by Pedro Chezzi, the wall transforms into a kind of illustrated garden. The artist Neto Robatto painted directly on the surface, in acrylic, more than 50 birds and plants.

The intervention reinforces the Quintal Brasis proposal of revisiting the affective memories of Brazilian backyards. The species represented are recognized as Brazilian, regardless of their origin, and appear gathered in a single panel, building an image of diversity and, at the same time, of shared identity.

In the store signed by Bruna Doria, the intervention by Jota Vilanova, from the Fabrico de Ideias collective (PE), is not limited to a wall: the painting also takes over the ceiling. Executed in acrylic paint, the work draws on the vernacular Northeastern aesthetic and incorporates references to truck paintings and the graphic elements of open-air markets.

The work was developed in loco, based on a preliminary project drawn up from the conceptual briefing of the project. During a week of execution, the free and spontaneous stroke often emerged directly on the surfaces, without prior studies. The artist's language also appears in other areas, such as the shelving, expanding its presence throughout the space. The result brings design and art curatorship closer together and reinforces the encounter between architecture and popular culture.

At the Japanese restaurant designed by Paula Risério and Marco Reis, artist Beatriz Calixto created Abaixo do Horizonte, using matte acrylic paint and a brush. The painting occupies a dark blue wall, in a direct reference to the sea.

Carps appear in motion, built with long and translucent brushstrokes that accentuate the fluidity of the species. The choice of the fish also establishes a relationship with Japanese culture, in which the carp is associated with strength, courage, perseverance and prosperity.

At the store designed by Augusto Senna, painting takes on an even more direct function: it is the public's first contact with the space. Without a display window, the facade is taken over by graffiti by DASKA, sharing the scene with the brand's first signature fabric.

The intervention transforms the entrance into a focal point and reinforces, from the outside, ideas of identity and belonging that run through the brand.

In the powder room designed by Bia Nery, Flacy Andrade and Michelle Araújo, artist Miu Monteiro created a mother jaguar that occupies the wall like a kind of guardian. Executed in a mixed technique of acrylic and spray, the figure has a monumental, almost architectural body, that functions as shelter.

The contrast between the mother's strength and the cub's delicacy drives the narrative of the work. The burgundy tones evoke blood, fertile soil, life and love, while flowers dissolve the boundaries between animal and forest: the skin turns into vegetation and the forest becomes part of the jaguar itself.
