Eduardo Srur is a visual artist responsible for several urban interventions in São Paulo, mostly related to the
Pinheiros River - located in front of his studio in the capital of São Paulo and which he calls an “open-air sewage channel”.
This time, the riverbank hosts the work Boat on a Buried River , which reflects on water pollution. An 8-meter-long orange boat will be on display on the bike path, near the Cidade Jardim bridge. Unlike his previous works, this one will be permanent. “Since it is impossible to sail on the Pinheiros River, the boat will be moored on the bank as something that exists, but useless", says Srur. The work is part of a monthly photographic project documenting the effects of climate and weather on the boat. The outcome, however, is uncertain. “Maybe I will disappear before the work is done, or it will be so annoying that I will be removed. But it is certainly something that I need to do as an insistent warning to the government and future generations who will live in São Paulo."
