CASACOR São Paulo celebrated the opening of its 33rd edition with an exclusive performance by
Ismael Ivo , one of the most renowned choreographers in the country and current director of Theatro Municipal de São Paulo. After three decades abroad, the dancer interpreted the
Planeta Casa concept, the theme of the 2019 shows, in his own way. Under the night sky, the performance featured seven other dancers in a choreography never seen before.
Intervenções Afetivas is the name given to the show, which was characterized by a sensitive, moving and sometimes even theatrical character. The intention was to work on people's relationships with others, with their homes and with the spaces they live in. The dancers' timing allowed them not only to move throughout the space, but also to use its structure as a choreographic element. Thus, they played with the entrance arches, coordinated steps with the light timer and made water a dramatic resource.
Having worked with names such as German Pina Bausch and performer Marina Abramović, Ivo was director of the Venice Biennale and the first black and foreign person to direct the German National Theatre. He moved from Berlin to São Paulo in 2017 to direct the São Paulo City Ballet, being the first black person to hold the position.
