The knowledge that exists before the drawing and remains inscribed in the matter. It is from this premise that the work Mãos que Lembram (Hands that Remember) is born, created by artist, designer and curator Nina Coimbra for the Praça Olaria project, signed by Mara Magalhães for CASACOR Tocantins 2026.

The installation is monumental: a 3.25 m sculpture composed of vases, jars and golden grass baskets organized in hollow columns, bringing centuries-old craftsmanship closer to architectural scale and contemporary art.

Aligned with the official theme of the show, Mind and Heart, the work is the result of a sensitive immersion with the artisans of the Community Association of Artisans and Small Producers of Mateiros (ACAPPM), which brings together female leaders from the Carrapatos and Do Rio Quilombola communities, as well as traditional villages of Jalapão, such as Fazenda Nova, Galheiros and Jacurutu.

“Each piece carries a memory that is not written, but inscribed in the fiber. 'Hands that Remember' looks at ancestry as a living technology in movement. Tradition remains strong because it keeps reinventing itself in the present,” highlights Nina Coimbra.

The collaboration continues the historical projection of golden grass and buriti in Brazilian design, started in projects such as Jalapoeira Apurada, by Marcelo Rosenbaum.
