In addition to Fenearte, other initiatives take place in various formats: fairs, galleries, bazaars, stores, exhibitions, etc. The good news is that amid the pandemic, a virtual sales initiative is taking place through the e-commerce site Boobam . There, Oca, a store located in Caruaru, stood out. A careful selection of pieces by big names such as Zé Bezerra, Aberaldo, Sil, Jasson, among others, was made by Leonardo Allouchie and now has a national reach. The architect, founder of Oca, began the research out of the desire to bring some of the rich production of regional crafts into his projects and the difficulty of finding quality pieces. “My projects followed an authorial and regionalist Brazilian architecture, so I sought to include crafts, and I realized how difficult it was to reach these artists and their workplaces”, he explains. From this search, Oca was born, a store that aims to reduce the barrier to access to Brazilian crafts and folk art by various artists. Made from natural raw materials, the works feature a raw look and delicate work with dotted textures. These pieces have many attributes, without forgetting two essential characteristics of art: inventiveness and instinct. “These regional expressions recreate local traditions and historical heritage, and fit well in any environment, as a memory of our country,” explains Leonardo Allouchie.[newsletter]
