Artists unite in solidarity to support the vulnerable in Brazil

(Alex Cerveny)

The 300 Drawings project brought together different visual arts professionals with the aim of raising funds for three philanthropic organizations (Apib, CUFA and Habitat Brasil), operating on a national scale with direct social investment actions during the pandemic. Three hundred artists, in various stages of career, were invited to donate works in A4 format, which will be received by supporters of the project upon donation of a quota of 1 thousand reais. Each artist interpreted the proposal in their own way, resulting in a fascinating set of works, which will be raffled among campaign participants via crowdfunding. The idea is that each participant contributes a single quota of 1 thousand reais and then, via a link, finds out which work will be selected to be delivered. The selection will be made by an automated system that will direct one drawing, among the 300, to each quota donated. To participate, simply access the link that will be directed to the Abaca$hi page. After completing the contribution, an automatic email from the system will confirm the payment (this confirmation may take up to 72 hours). This division of the works for each donor will be made through an automated system, which will direct a drawing for each donated share; each donor can collaborate as many times as they want. Respecting social isolation measures, and ensuring the safety of everyone involved in the logistics process, the drawings will be delivered in the second half of the year or as soon as conditions allow. The project organizers hope that, through consistent involvement of the artistic community and those interested in art in general, they can actively contribute to improving the living conditions of some of Brazil's most vulnerable populations during this critical period.

Supported organizations

APIB (Articulation of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil) is an instance of agglutination and national reference of the indigenous movement in Brazil, which was born with the purpose of promoting and defending indigenous rights, based on the articulation and union between indigenous peoples and organizations of different regions of the country. With the support of the 300 drawings project, APIB intends to better equip its operational bases with professional long-distance radios, internet routers, telephones and computers to support surveillance actions in the territories and access to information of public utility to national indigenous communities. . CUFA (Central Única das Favelas) is a Brazilian organization recognized nationally in the political, social, sports and cultural spheres. It was created from the union of young people from several favelas who sought spaces to express their attitudes, questions or simply their will to live. Habitat for Humanity Brazil is a global, non-profit, non-governmental organization whose cause is to promote housing as a fundamental human right. In Brazil for 26 years, the organization has developed projects in 11 states and transformed the lives of more than of 76 thousand people.
