Intown Arquitetura designs farmhouse with brutalist elements

A comfortable and very elegant decoration was created by Intown Arquitetura for the Farmhouse , located in Rio de Janeiro. The residents asked for a contemporary and minimalist residence – and the experts got it right. For the composition, the architects invested in brutalist materials to bring a rustic air that has everything to do with the rural atmosphere of the place . Concrete, glass, stone and steel are the preferred materials for the composition because, in addition to their aesthetic beauty, they are also easy to maintain.

Project development

The house was built in the colonial style – a challenge for the architects, who were called in to make the space lighter and more modern . “During our first visit, we suggested placing the new structure on top of the mountain, so that it would be possible to admire it from anywhere. ” the entire extension . We organized the program on one floor, but with three different levels that separate the social area from the service sector and the private part”, say the architects leading the project, Alexandre Gedeon and Hugo Schwartz. The uneven terrain made it difficult to execute the project. The initial idea was to build a farmhouse at elevation 0.00, but they changed their plans because they realized that the volume would be too low in relation to the access road. To solve the problem, the architects decided to create a new floor 1.5 meters above the entrance . This solution made it possible to have useful space to create a passage for the facilities, such as pool pumps and water tanks. and VRF machines . The result was more practical maintenance for residents, as everything was visible underground.

Thermal and acoustic insulation were the focus to bring more tranquility to the environment. To achieve this, the entire roof was concreted with vermiculite in the mix. In addition, the architects invested in sophisticated aluminum and glass doors and windows , which leave the space open to the outside. to allow natural ventilation and lighting on sunny days. “We use materials in their raw state and leave them exposed to facilitate maintenance and eventual replacement,” say the architects.

Internal spaces

The living room features essential elements that allow for better sharing of the space with visitors. To ensure spaciousness, the architects invested in a few, precise elements, fulfilling their promise of bringing a minimalist style to the residents.
