Luis Twose have together discovered a surreal underground universe in Catalonia, Spain. Called
Aigües de Vilajuïga , the space was found by excavating earth around a large water tank – almost six meters high height – in the Vilajuïga region.
By showcasing Vilajuïga’s underground foundations, the team aimed to celebrate the experience of traveling underground to bring water to visitors in a tangible way. According to them, the project “excavates, descends and brings to light what is normally hidden.”
About the excavation process, Twobo says, "We dug around the water tank until we could see the round wall from the outside. Through the wall we entered, displacing the water to a higher layer." Visitors who come to explore will be invited to climb down gradually a set of extensive ramps, in order to approach the underground where the water used to flow silently.
