Women's home built alongside local community in Morocco

BC Architects & Studies is leading the design of a women's home in Morocco, built with the help of residents and workers from the village of Ouled Merzoug. With a sustainable premise, the project uses local and regenerative materials, as well as alternating techniques traditional and contemporary constructions, minimizing residual waste.

The first space is a meeting place, a central area that connects the two volumes of the house: the workspace, which functions as a studio for the women, and a shared bakery called a "boulangerie commune". In the studio , teaching activities, meetings and sewing are developed, while in the boulangerie women can share meals, cook and sell their products. The eucalyptus doors and beams were made by local carpenters, while the exterior lamps and ceramic objects were produced jointly in a ceramics workshop.[newsletter]
