A refuge between books and memories is the proposal of Estar Leve at CASACOR SP

Self-care is an increasingly present expression, but it is not just a fashionable term. It reveals the need to look at yourself and dedicate time to what you love to do. For many people, this search leads to a simple, comfortable place to read and relax. This is the feeling that inspires Estar Leve, by Paula Magnani for CASACOR São Paulo 2019. The architect designs a refuge dedicated to reading, concentration and enjoying moments of calm. An escape from the metropolis and so much hustle and bustle. Therefore, Estar Leve, which is 40 m², was created in neutral and calm tones, with touches of earthy colors and antique pink. - “Having a place designed especially for books translates a spirit of calm and concentration that only a moment of reading brings us. Rescuing this contact disconnects us from the virtual world. We seek to translate this feeling of ‘being light’”, explains Paula. Textures also play an important role in creating an atmosphere of comfort and protection. Walls were covered with porcelain tiles that imitate the relief of rocks, wood with unique grains warms the composition and there are design pieces crafted in materials such as straw, as well as different fabrics used in the space's furniture. - “Applying textures in a discreet and neutral way is one of the things I like to do most in my projects. In this case, in particular, playing with this resource was a way to bring a feeling of welcome”, says the architect. - In space, the natural trunk sculpture gains due prominence. It was treated and reused from an old mud building in the Northeast, brought especially to complement and give more life to the space. - Affective memory is another element that emerges as a strong point of the project, to anchor feelings and thoughts. Paula Magnani looked for pieces from antique dealers that brought to light the feeling of heredity, making the living room a space for family coexistence, reading and conversation. Antique tables and armchairs coexist with important pieces of contemporary design, such as the award-winning Gaulino chair, by Spaniard Oscar Tusquets Blanca, and other pieces with straight, dry lines.
