How to reconcile an elaborate design with sustainable principles in a single installation? The answer lies in the project built by Fittipaldi Arquitetura for CASACOR Brasília 2011. The incredible installation combined bamboo and steel tubes in its structure to create an organic effect of curves and spirals. , like a strand of DNA.

The installation was assembled with 750 Phylostaquis bamboo sticks and created an unforgettable façade for the exhibition in Brasília. Each bamboo stick – almost four meters long – was pierced by a 38-millimeter tubular profile, which was installed three meters above the ground.

The bamboos were fixed on their axis in such a way as to balance them at any point of their vertical or horizontal extension. In this way, when invited to move the sticks on their axis, in order to modify the surface of the installation, visitors could do so. it without any major problems.

The façade of CASACOR Brasília 2011 was the first project done jointly by the two generations of the Fittipaldi Arquitetura office , including the son Eduardo Fittipaldi and the couple Regina and Sergio Fittipaldi. On that occasion, the office took home the CASACOR 2011 Award in the category Most Sustainable Project of the show.
