How does a smart garden work?
With the friendly name of
Respira , this smart hydroponic garden is a project by the Canadian company New Earth Solutions and promises to be a
sustainable system for natural air purification in indoor environments . The invention is self-sustainable, that is, the device takes care of itself through a biofiltration process and an automatic irrigation, feeding and lighting system built into the design.
The idea came from the need to improve indoor air quality, as people are spending more time indoors due to social isolation imposed during the pandemic.
Respira can be mounted on the wall or installed in a planter , thus integrating various decoration styles.
How to install and care for a smart garden?
According to the company,
installation takes no more than ten minutes and users only need
to refill the water tank every ten days , add nutrients every six months and wash the pre-filter every two months.
A phone app manages and monitors things like temperature, water level, humidity, and air quality.

As for
foliage , there are three options available: the "tropical" variety features strong, low-light plants, the "vibrant" variety has colorful species, and the "pothos" variety has leaves that grow downwards. Anyone interested can secure their Respira on the
invention's Kickstarter (production and delivery estimates are for June 2021). https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/respira/respira-the-air-purifying-garden-that-takes-care-of-itself?ref=user_menu[newsletter]
