Meet AWA, the soap that cleans rivers and improves water quality

Andea, the mineral water brand from Cusco in Peru , and its creative agency Fahrenheit DDB, present AWA : a bar of soap that cleans rivers and improves water quality . In a world where 159 million people depend on the non-toxic liquid, treaty, the company seeks to convert a common soap into a product to decontaminate river water.

The brand decided to start a decontamination process through the 'AWA' project , using people who wash clothes in rivers. After several months of research in conjunction with CIRSYS , a Peruvian innovation start-up that seeks technological solutions for social development , they managed to find microorganisms with a probiotic function, capable of feeding on the river's pollutants, showing an efficiency of up to 75% .

"We have intervened in the soap's formula to make it environmentally friendly and to ensure that it retains our probiotics properly , without damaging them or reducing their effectiveness," says the company.

Andea has made the AWA formula available to governments, non-profits, social enterprises and soap manufacturers.
