Contemporary tropical garden embraces 2,840 m² residence in Minas Gerais traduzido por: OPENROUTER

Designed by landscape architect Flávia D'Urso – part of the CASACOR Minas Gerais lineup –, the landscape project for this residence in Nova Lima (MG) was born with the mission of unifying the original construction — renovated by architect Estela da Silva Netto — with the new leisure area incorporated after the acquisition of the neighboring lot. With a total area of 2840 m² and about 700 m² dedicated exclusively to landscaping, the intervention acts as the visual and functional link of the property, transforming the expansion into a fluid extension of the house.

Developed for a couple of entrepreneurs and their teenage children, the space reflects a dynamic lifestyle connected to nature, integrating pool, gourmet area, glass-enclosed gym, vegetable garden and orchard.

The implementation was structured based on the sectorization of accesses and flows: at the entrance, vertical species and dense plantings organize the visual axes, while on the sides the vegetation acts as a filter that ensures privacy without obstructing natural light.

The leisure area displays a contemporary tropical composition, where lush foliage and ornamental grasses soften the built elements around the pool. In the gym, the garden takes on the role of a living, dense scenery, enhancing well-being during physical activities. More secluded, the productive area brings together a vegetable garden and an orchard with fruit trees such as acerola, pitanga and jabuticaba, strengthening the family's affective relationship with cultivation.

With more than 40 specified species — including philodendrons, olive trees, xanthorrhoeas and date palms —, the concept explores different layers, textures and volumes. The predominantly tropical language is balanced with the contemporary design of clean lines and fluid transitions.

By stitching together the existing architecture with the new terrain, Flávia D'Urso overcame the challenge of fragmentation, delivering a garden that offers shade, movement, aromas and visual comfort, perfectly integrating the landscape into family daily life.
