One of the most important figures in Chilean architecture, Smiljan Radić is one of the honorees at MADE Latina. The international fair takes place between August 22nd and 25th at the Ibirapuera Biennial Pavilion in São Paulo and includes an exhibition about his work, curated by Waldick Jatobá and Bruno Simões. On August 22nd, at 6 pm, Radić will give a talk about his creative process. Smiljan Radić is a Chilean of Croatian origin, graduated from the Catholic University of Chile. He has worked in Italy and settled in Chile, with his Palma Studio, carrying out projects in various parts of the world.

In his constructions, the limits of fragility and instability are present, especially in irregular forms. At the same time, the materials and architecture of the spaces are extremely strong and to a certain extent primitive. Another characteristic of his work is his interest in mediums and small scales, which allow exploring artisanal techniques and products in construction. The social, environmental and material context of the place is another essential element in their projects.
In 2018, Smiljan Radić received the Arnold W. Brunner Memorial Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in New York. In 2014, he was selected to design the pavilion for the Serpentine Gallery in London, and in the same year, his office designed the expansion of the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art in Santiago, Chile. One of the largest buildings he designed was the Vik Winery, also in his home country.
