Signed by engineer Heloisa Maringoni , from Companhia de Projetos, the revitalization project of the monumental neo-Renaissance building, built to celebrate Brazil's Independence, was developed with the aim of providing an objective, quick and clean response , so as not to conflict with the delicate restoration work, which should take place simultaneously with the works.
“The steel system was chosen because the Museum, being a listed building, had limitations regarding the dimensions of the parts, connection details, few possible support points and the need for readiness in structural performance. But as the Swiss painter who became a naturalized German would say , Paul Klee, every limitation is a support ”, explains Heloisa.
