With the aim of preserving the history of the city's architectural heritage , Porto Alegre has gained an online guide that brings together texts, photographs and information about 100 of the city's main architectural, urban, landscape, historical and cultural works . Created by architects and urban planners Rodrigo Poltosi and Vlademir Roman , the Arqpoa Guide contributes to the recognition and dissemination of the rich heritage that dates back to colonial times to the present day . According to the architects, “the realization that there was no guide that showed, highlighted and analyzed its architecture in the different historical and stylistic periods motivated us to organize all this material. The architecture of Porto Alegre is not sufficiently known and valued , even by its inhabitants".
The guide was put together taking into account the heritage sites already recognized by the government and the knowledge of the project’s creators about the city. “The priority was to publicize the places that could be visited , since the guide is not specifically aimed at architects and urban planners, but mainly to residents, tourists and visitors to the city ”, explains Rodrigo. For architects, Arqpoa is a tool through which it is possible to recognize the history of the city through its buildings and public spaces . "The objective of the online guide is to increase people's relationship with the city , to make them learn to look and come to know and value their architectural heritage.” Source: ArchDaily
