CASACOR São Paulo 2026 came to a close on Sunday, August 9, celebrating attendance records and four special certifications related to sustainability and inclusion. In its 39th edition, CASACOR presented solutions, materials, and concepts that reflect the transformations of society and new desires for living. Pedro Ariel Santana, director of relations and content at CASACOR, closely followed this movement from the beginning to the end of the event.

An architect and journalist, he walked through the projects, spoke with professionals, and observed the choices that shaped the edition. Now, he offers an overview of what he saw, heard, and discovered during the show — and of the ideas that, for him, remain after CASACOR São Paulo 2026.

"Mind and Heart" dominated the projects

One of the highlights of CASACOR São Paulo 2026, according to Pedro Ariel, was the professionals' engagement with the theme Mind and Heart. The edition proposed that architects, designers, and landscapers represent the home as a space for reconnection with oneself – which translated into affective and welcoming projects throughout the route.

"I think this may have been the CASACOR edition in which architects most engaged with the theme. They embraced the Mind and Heart proposal very naturally and with great pleasure. They sought affective memories in their parents' and grandparents' homes... There were several stories like that," he says.

Ariel cites the projects by Felipe Carolo, Nildo José, and Rafaella Manso as the main examples of this interpretation. In addition, the CASACOR member mentions the projects that resorted to less literal ways of representing the theme, with the inclusion of record players, old irons, and other references to the past.

He adds: "It's almost a way of returning to the analog world in the face of the psychological ills of the digital world, such as stress, anxiety, and depression. There was, then, an attempt to feel protected – a form of escapism in search of refuge in another era. The appearance of so many old references is a hallmark of this edition."

Trends to keep an eye on

Pedro Ariel points out possible trends for the coming years among the colors, materials, and coverings that stood out the most at CASACOR São Paulo. For him, the tones of burgundy, marsala and wine drew attention on different surfaces – from walls to fabrics and joinery.

The stainless steel pieces also caught the curator's eye. Among the examples, Ariel cites the appearance of the material in countertops, doors and even bed headboards. He also mentions the "oxidized" mirrors, which lent a rustic look to some of the projects at the show.

Affective paths for the future of living

After two months of the event, the message that CASACOR São Paulo 2026 left its visitors is that the future of living is directly aligned with the idea of "real homes". For Ariel, the public was able to feel closer to the CASACOR universe this year.

"In the past, decoration shows were very distant from the public's universe. Suddenly, we presented an edition marked by books, record players and other items that many people have at home. I think we gradually replaced excessively expensive products with more tangible things. And I believe that the audience left with that feeling of a real home, close to their own home," he states.

Celebrating 40 years of CASACOR

As usual, the end of the show already marks the beginning of preparations for the next cycle, and this time with a special purpose: celebrating CASACOR's 40th anniversary. The details of the 2027 edition are being defined by the team, but Pedro Ariel raises expectations for the celebration:

"What we can expect is that the 40-year edition will be memorable. We don't have a theme yet, but it is possible to say that perhaps the show will grow in size, have more projects, and feature the return of renowned names who were part of the first CASACOR editions. Nothing is certain yet, but we are working on it," he concludes.
