The
Feltri armchair was created in 1987 by renowned Italian designer Gaetano Pesce, with a design and shape that ironically resembles a throne. The importance and milestone of the piece was so great in the history of design that Raf Simons decided to pay homage to it. during
Design Miami / Basel, which opens today (12). Simons’ passion for the iconic piece resulted in Calvin Klein’s first installation at the show,
featuring 100 limited-edition Cassina Feltri armchairs, each adorned with a custom patchwork quilt chosen by Raf, who serves as artistic director and curator of the exhibition. The chairs are harmoniously placed around a barn constructed from reclaimed wood and the walls are covered in billboard-scale visual art by Andy Warhol. The space will also host Calvin Klein’s fall 205W39NYC show.
