The
EDIT Napoli fair reaches its third edition in Italy with the intention of once again
challenging the traditional production chain and celebrating producers, artisans and manufacturers who are at the forefront of contemporary design. Among them is
Patricia Urquiola , the Spanish architect and designer which in this edition establishes a partnership with the
Caselli Institute - Royal Factory of Capodimonte , one of the most important and traditional Italian crafts institutions. The collaboration is based on the desire to
revitalize the ancient tradition of porcelain and, at the same time,
to enhance the excellence of Capodimonte's artisanal production , creating a connection between the factory's masters, the institute's students and international designers.
Thus, the project reinterprets the
centerpieces of the 1970s , which are now combined with a naturalist and floral aesthetic with the intention of creating a "
garden on the table ". The theme is inspired by the immense catalog of plants and flowers of the Real Bosco di Capodimonte. "When visiting the Royal Factory school, we passed by a rather neglected courtyard that called for a
real green intervention . This need permeated our project," said Urquiola.
For Valter Luca De Bartolomeis, Director of the Caselli Institute, "the manufacture and research of materials go beyond the limit to
give porcelain the principles of innovation and dream that determined its success and defined its history".
EDIT Napoli once again proves itself to be a meeting place to
discuss territory, tradition, institutions and contemporary design . In addition to the cultural and educational contribution of this collaboration, the two institutions will hold an auction whose proceeds will go towards the restoration of the garden. internal to the school. The presentation of the products developed by Patricia Urquiola together with the masters of the Real Factory will take place on the opening date of the fair, on October 29, 2021, at the Monumental Complex of San Domenico Maggiore.
