Very different from those found out there, the Mancebo on display at MADE is made of solid wood with concrete and even has a place to store keys!

Claudia Moreira Salles created the Mancebo Stand By , a solid wood board where small battens are inserted and joined asymmetrically to a cylindrical concrete base that gives stability to the piece. 
The hooks face the wooden surface and open for use at a touch, like an on/off lever. A wooden bowl, placed on the edge of the concrete base, is used to place the keys. The wood used in manufacturing varies, including Riga pine, ipê, catuaba and freijó, among others. What makes the work even more personalized are the tones and grains of the wood, a result of the peculiarities of each piece. "The design of the Stand by mancebo tried to be an alternative to the most common form of furniture, whose base, generally in the form of a tripod, supports a column from which arms or hooks come out to hang clothes and other belongings", explains the designer.
