Paying homage to the artistry and unparalleled beauty of ancient temples and monuments, Duffy London has launched a new range of hand-carved marble coffee and dining tables. ‘
Petra’, ‘Hegra’ and
‘Kailasa’ , form the edition collection Limited Civilization. They are inspired respectively by the
Al-khazneh temple in Jordan, the
Qasr-al-farid tomb in Saudi Arabia, and the
Kailasa temple in India. These incredible man-made monuments were carved directly into the rock of the landscapes thanks to the master skills artisans.
The sheer levels of skill and technical prowess required to craft each table – using traditional carving techniques – make each piece completely unique, so that no two tables can ever be exactly the same.
Each object is formed from a single block of hand-picked marble stone that is carved over many months by master craftsmen, using traditional techniques to chip away at the rock with chisels and hammers until the shape is revealed. The details are made with files and sandpaper, accentuating the shine of the stone.
