The September calendar is packed from start to finish. This is because this year the
world's main design fairs and events are resuming their in-person activities after more than a year of doing so only in a virtual environment. "Super September" will feature already scheduled activities from
Salone del Mobile and
Design Miami Basel , as well as trade shows and events across Asia and Europe. In addition to regular September events such as the London Design Festival, the month will also feature a
series of of fairs that have been moved or postponed .
Meanwhile,
Maison & Objet , the biannual French fair for decoration, lifestyle and design, will take place in Paris from September 9 to 13. It will host a
series of digital fairs, as well as a physical exhibition and an off-site tour , which takes place in conjunction with Paris Design Week.
This will be followed by the
London Design Festival from 18 to 26 September. The 2021 edition will feature an artistic initiative by designer
Yinka Ilori and a mixed reality installation,
Architecture + Reality (A+R) by architect
Sou Fujimoto and the mixed reality
Tin Drum .
Design Miami Basel , curated by
Aric Chen , overlaps with the London Design Festival and runs from September 21 to 26. The 15th edition of the event, which showcases collectible designs from designers and galleries around the world, was scheduled to take place in June, as usual, but was moved to September due to the pandemic.
