CASACOR Miami 2018: tropicalism and urban living in 19 environments

Palm Beach Home Style - Alberto Salaberri. The tropical climate of Rio de Janeiro, combined with the same atmosphere of South Florida, meet and create the entire concept of this lounge. The space mixes contemporary elements in the furniture with pieces of art created by Damien Hirst, Jane Manus and Paul Rousso. Natural materials, such as linen and bamboo, are also part of the composition. One of the highlights is the hand-painted wallpaper, which references palm leaves. Blue and white finish the décor, giving elegance to the tropical feel of the space.

Altis Ornamentum – Moniomi. The marble-clad room was inspired by the ancient Romans and Greeks’ reverence for athletic prowess. The gym is a modern take on the training and relaxation spaces of classical times – right down to the arched entrances. Designed for fashion, design and, of course, fitness enthusiasts, it features custom-designed carpets, art and high-end equipment. The relationship between luxury and sport inspired the interior of the space, typically thought of as exclusively male, transforming it into a more democratic and inclusive environment.

The Senseful Space - Sandra Diaz-Velasco. The design of this lounge is based on contrasts and juxtapositions. Organic curves offset straight edges; Green areas soften high-tech finishes such as ultra-compact surface flooring, fiberglass wall cladding and pink acrylic panels. Designed as part of an executive's loft, the room features designer items such as the Zaha Hadid coffee table and the Toyo Ito Suki lounge chair. Works of art intensify the opposition of the natural and the human. Pieces include Andrea Nhuch's blobby abstract sculptures and Jenna Efrein's Alligator Monument.

Speedforms in the Garden - Paolo Pininfarina. This garden's sculptures, seating, and bar appear to have been sculpted by the wind rather than meticulously planned on a computer. Pininfarina, the studio behind classic cars like the Ferrari Cisitalia, partnered with Cosentino to create the pieces, which were carved from marble by machines. On the edges of the garden, organic egg-like sculptures reference natural forms; In the center there is the functional counter, at which refreshments will be served and designer items displayed.

Harmony Living - Inês Martins. Designed as an oasis for a middle-aged executive, this space includes a bathroom, a walk-in closet and a meditation area. The professional opted for a mix of natural materials - marble, leather, wood and cotton. Sliding glass doors and porcelain tiles suggest a more modern atmosphere, together with the urban landscape seen from the windows. Clean and geometric furniture contrasts with the Buddha statue and tropical vegetation.

Bar Lounge Experience Concept - By Lemme. Movement is a constant in this project, inspired by the jazz bars of the 1950s. Whether in the concept, the use of furniture and its formats, and also in the arts, everything is in flux. Visitors can relax on the rounded seats or on the swing hanging from the ceiling and enjoy a video installation on the wavy wall, which creates a feeling of constant movement in the bar. Warm colors serve as a backdrop for brass and gold tones, which reference the art deco district.

Agave Rendezvous - Edge Collections. The entire concept and starting point of the project were the agave plantations of Jalisco, Mexico. The place serves as a hall and meeting point for visitors, where you can drink tequila, a drink also from the country that inspires the space. The wall is covered with paper that replicates the shape of the agave species, and is even more highlighted by the mirror ceiling. In the furniture, there are pieces by Pedro Franco, which complete the decor.

E.Sens - Sabrina Maclean and Desiree Casoni Garcia. The conceptual environment encourages viewers to disconnect from the outside world. A hallway leads to four wooden boxes lit by LED strips and covered with parchment. Sand surrounds the boxes, like huts on the beach. Its colors - yellow, blue, green and purple - make reference to the water, the sun, the vegetation and the essence of Miami. Inside the compartments there is a minimal set of furniture - a seat, side tables and corresponding pieces of design art. Collectibles, from a Fernando Mastrangelo mirror in the blue sector to a Gabrielle Conilh de Beyssac hammock in the yellow corner, complete the scene.

Nature Takes Over - MR O. The bathrooms that occupy the 10th floor of 700 Brickell Ave break paradigms and present themselves as great surprises for visitors. In the hallway that leads to the bathrooms, green paint energizes the walls, and is repeated in the washbasin. The tone is well arranged and harmonious with the light marble and white dishes.

Sculpture Garden - Adriana Mavignier. Continents and many countries meet in this garden, which brings together a bar, futuristic sculptures and benches, designed by the Italian firm Pininfarina. Through the use of various species, the professional brings regional plants from Asia, Africa, Oceania and the Americas. Among the most notable are the brazilwood and the Japanese ferns, evoking a mix of styles and textures for the environment.

Engaging Urban Lines #2 - Carola Bravo. To represent the flow and movement of people in a metropolis, the artist and architect creates an installation of metal and printed mesh creating a network of lines. They overlap, intersect, branch and run parallel, engaging visitors as they enter 700 Brickell Ave.

Delightful Bedroom - Guardini Stancati Interior Design. Designed according to the principles of Ayurveda – an ancient health system that originated in India and Pakistan and is over five thousand years old – this bedroom is designed for relaxation, reading and moments for two. Everything is designed for well-being: the colors are light and soft, there is a study of aromatherapy and natural materials such as wood, cotton and linen are also used. The bed is low, following the concept that this oriental technique renews energy for a new day. Wooden panels add warmth to the room and improve its acoustics.

Rituals - Roye. Anyone entering the main area of this space is surprised by the large golden lamp above the dark table, which is the protagonist of the project, due to its antagonistic and bold shape. The minimalist decoration reveals the essential and highlights the important works and objects. Light colors and sober tones are present throughout the décor, such as the floor covering, made of wood and cement, which also serve as delimiters of areas.

An architect's room - D'Apostrophe Design Inc. An ode to the work of Le Corbusier, this study space for an architect draws heavily from 20th century modern style. The colors of the room reference the bold scheme of Maison La Roche, the Parisian villa Corbu created in 1923. The materials are sober: the white oak floor, the white color on the walls, wood and linen. The suspended round concrete table can host meetings and gatherings and gives the space an even stronger modernist flavor.

Urban Gourmet Oasis - Tatiana Moreira. This multifunctional space proves that it is possible to cook, meet friends and work in one place. The professional bets on a large counter that can be used as a work space, a table for meeting friends and a space to enjoy meals. In the coverings, materials such as wood, stone, silk and velvet are present and complete the hedonistic atmosphere alongside tropical plants that bring life and nature into the space.

Container House - Leo Shehtman. In this contemporary and relaxed space, Shehtman builds a house with two shipping containers framed by an outdoor garden. Instead of creating concrete walls and partitions, the professional opts for curtains, which filter sunlight and do not completely separate the spaces. Inside, wooden furniture is arranged with more classic pieces. In the outdoor area, low and comfortable furniture is perfect for a sunny afternoon with guests.

Collector's Lounge - Allan Malouf. Modern pieces by renowned artists contrast with the selection of 19th-century furniture. In this atmosphere, works by painters such as Antonio Peticov, Claudio Tozzi and Luiz Aquila are present alongside period designs, such as Biedermeier furniture and Louis XV armchairs. It is worth noting: the 10-seater dining table features Brazilian granite next to the black piano, which completes the décor.

Vondom Lounge - Vondom. Small gathering spaces dot this open-air lounge, inviting visitors to grab a drink, take photos, or enjoy the warm weather. The project brings the interior to the outdoor area of the exhibition using Vondom polypropylene design furniture. The pieces have sweeping lines and seats that interlock, encouraging connection. Sophisticated Ulm sofas by Ramon Esteve contrast with head-shaped Adan planters and benches by Teresa Sapey.

The Man Cave - Jesus Pacheco. Created to be a refuge, this space plays with the duality of a masculine stereotype and is present throughout the concept. Stone is a covering present, sometimes black, in panels, or covering an entire wall like white marble. The furniture breaks the monotony of tones, like the Bubble Sofa with its strong yellow. The works of art complete the décor and complement the concept: a rigid sculpture by Antonio Goes contrasts with the piece by Teresa Cabello, a flexible and malleable acrobat.

Miami has definitely become an epicenter of art and design. People from all over the world flock to the city, especially in December for Miami Art Basel, to stay up to date with all the latest news and trends from these inspirational universes. And it is no coincidence that CASACOR is coming to Miami for the second year in a row to bring urban lifestyle and living innovations to Florida architecture, design and art enthusiasts. The 2nd edition of the show is being held in partnership with Swire Properties and is presented by COSENTINO at the Brickell City Centre building from November 30 to December 16 . Additionally, CASACOR Miami presents this year’s In Good Company, an exhibition curated by designer Fernando Mastrangelo & Hannah Martin, senior design writer for Architectural Digest. A platform for young and emerging designers to showcase their work, In Good Company debuted last year in New York and will bring the exhibition to Miami for the first time.
